My ebook, ‘One Tip…’ has been on sale now for 7 full days and
has so far raised $2800. That’s a great total to have raised for
charity and I thank everyone who has bought it.
What it shows, apart from the fact that Kickstart readers know a
bargain when they see one and are happy to help out people in
need, is that making money online is a very real thing.
I was able to call on a lot of friends to help write the book,
but the basic principle is very clear. Online publishing is not a
complicated business.
Here is what the project entailed:
1. Find a subject to write about.
2. Write about it (I short-circuited the process by asking others
to do most of the writing, but for a different book I could (and
so could you) have written it myself.
3. Put it all into a Word document (or Open Office) to make it
look nice.
4. Convert it into a PDF file.
5. Promote it.
Of all that process, only the last part is likely to be a real
stumbling block. Having an immediate source of customers –
whether through your own list, or that of others, is the fastest
way to make money.
That’s why I – and almost everyone else – tells you that
developing both a list and a network of contacts is so important.
It doesn’t happen overnight, but neither thing is particularly
hard to do.
If you don’t have those things in place yet, there are other ways
to promote your shiny new product – writing articles, SEO,
pay-per-click, Warrior Forum Special Offers and so on.
You’ll get there.
And each sale you make grows your list by one more person.
‘One Tip…’ took just 2 weeks from initial idea to launch. If
you were writing an info product all yourself that time could be
cut to one week. And then another week to gross almost $3000.
And ‘One Tip’ is a very low cost book, aimed at a very small
niche market.
Of course, as with all ebooks, there are no production or
distribution costs. The price you set is the price you get to put
in your pocket.
And your potential audience is worldwide!
If you manage to attract affiliates to sell on your behalf, you
will have to pay them a commission, but every sale they make is
one you wouldn’t have had without them, so even if you pay them
75% commission – quite common in Internet marketing, the sale has
still effectively cost you nothing. You get to put money in your
bank without any overheads!
